"There are many women who have been hurt by rich, powerful, famous celebrities, and often those women will come to me for protection and support in asserting whatever legal claims they may have." -Gloria Allred
That doesn't make you any less of an extortionist, Gloria.
Glorida Allred has come to be known as the "feminist lawyer". She has taken on many a high profile case that have involved a true injustice, and in those instances, her tenacity and brilliance must be admired. However, all of those worthy accomplishments are cheapened when this lawyer, a celebrity in her own right, lowers herself to dirty extortion under the guise of defending the rights of the discarded mistress.
A grown woman that enters an intimate relationship with a married man knows what she is getting into. She knows that the chances of replacing the wife are slim and that she will very likely be the married man's piece on the side until he tires of her. Promises made between the sheets are not legally binding, and quite frankly, if a woman in this position believes them, she is either extremely naive, brick stupid, or lying to herself. Not every mistress can be a Madame de Pompadour.
It doesn't matter if the married man is rich, poor, famous, or just an average guy, the vast majority of the time, when a man, or anyone for that matter, involves themselves with someone outside of their marriage, it is not because they are genuinely in love with that person. There are always exceptions, but chances are, that person is interested in anything but true love, hearts and unicorns. This is no great secret to either party, or to anyone with half a brain.
Therefore, just because a woman involves herself with an extremely rich married man and surprise, surprise, gets hurt/dumped/exposed, doesn't mean she is entitled to anything. Even if she did not know what she was getting into, she has no right to his money. For this reason, I find that Gloria Allred's representation of several high profile mistresses is little more than extortion, and should be grounds to disbar her. Shaking someone down in exchange for silence is something the Mafia does, not a respected attorney. Not one of these mistresses deserves a cent from the married man whose home she helped to wreck. That Gloria Allred and her supporters would call this extortion racket feminism is an insult to women and suggests that a good career move is to spread your legs for a rich man so that you can blackmail him and profit. If that's what feminism represents, take my shoes and chain me to the stove because I want no part of it.
Gloria Allred, you are setting women back a century or more with your antics, and because of this, you are a big, frothing asshole.
